Dolly Parton Says She's Putting 'A Few Things' On Pause After Husband's Death

Dolly Parton is finding it hard to finish certain projects after her beloved husband, Carl Dean, died in March. The country icon said in a new interview that she's really only had writer's block once in her life, but she's now putting 'a few things' on pause after Dean's death. 'My husband passed away three months ago,' Parton said during her appearance on Khloe Kardashian's new podcast, 'Khloe in Wonder Land.' 'Several things I've wanted to start, but I can't do it. I will later, but I'm just coming up with such wonderful, beautiful, you know, ideas, but I think I won't finish it,' the '9 to 5' actor shared, before explaining why. 'I can't do it right now because I got so many other things and I can't afford the luxury of, you know, of getting that emotional right now,' Parton added. Later on in the podcast, Parton shared about why Dean was such a perfect match for her. 'You know, I'm not one of those people that has to have somebody around me all the time. In fact, I don't like it,' the songwriter said. 'I mean, I have to be out in the public and I belong to the public, but I am such a private person, and my husband was as well.' 'And that was the thing with us. We were so good for each other because he's a total loner,' Parton explained. 'We could just be in the house all day and say two or three words, didn't matter. Or we could talk all afternoon, and lay in bed, talk at night.' Parton revealed that she met Dean outside a laundromat on the same day that she moved to Nashville. The two were married two years later, on May 30, 1966, and were together for over 60 years before Dean's death. The famously discreet couple were so private, that Parton once joked people thought he didn't exist. 'A lot of people say there's no Carl Dean, that he's just somebody I made up to keep other people off me,' the 'Jolene' singer told The Associated Press in 1984.
